Mariners Rally From Four Down, Outslug Yuba College 10-5

After falling down early, the Mariners scored 10 runs in the final four innings to grab a convincing 10-5 victory over Yuba College in Marysville. Eight of nine College of Marin starters had base hits and seven scored runs.  Eric Smith grabbed the win with five innings pitched and five strikeouts, Chris Norman picked up the save with four innings of relief.

Yuba College got on the board in the bottom of the second inning as they loaded the bases with one out. A bases loaded walk and passed ball scored a pair before a two out RBI single drove in two more and gave the 49ers a 4-0 lead.

The Mariners were unable to muster any offense until the top of the sixth inning when Sam Schmidt walked and went to third on a Chris Hayman double. Marcus Chiu singled home a pair to cut the Yuba lead to 4-2. With runners on the corners Ryan Schalch grounded out scoring the third run. With two outs Jaymes Potts doubled in Matt Tarantino to tie the game before Paul O'Sullivan drove in Potts to give the team a 5-4 lead.  Tarantino singled and scored on a wild pitch for the team's sixth run in the top of the seventh.

Yuba mustered a few rallys but were unable to plate any more runs heading into the top of the ninth where the Mariners put the game away for good with four more runs.  Two came from the bat of Paul Kennedy with an RBI single and two more from an O'Sullivan RBI double. Yuba pulled one back in the bottom of the ninth but it was not enough to stop Marin from grabbing a 10-5 road win.

The Mariners are back at it Wednesday, hosting Laney College at home, rescheduled from Saturday April 9th
