Mariners Top Triple Digits in 101-90 Win Over Napa Valley College

Offense was ample while defense was scarce on Wednesday evening in Kentfield as the College of Marin Men's Basketball Team poured on the points in a 101-90 victory over Napa Valley College. JT Robinson led the Mariners with 27 points on a series of drives, cuts to the basket and step back jumpers.

Napa jumped out to an early lead from the get go, as a quartet of free throws and a pair of three pointers game the visitors a 10-2, drawing an early timeout from Marin coach Scott Thom. The Mariners responded well from Napa's early punch and responded with a 24-16 run to tie the game at 26-26 with nine minutes remaining. They went ahead for good, with a 49-41 after the first half. JT Robinson had 17 points while Leroy Jackson had 13 points.

The second half remained a cagey affair as Marin maintained a double digit advantage but Napa remained close behind. Napa opened the second half on a nice run to cut the Marin lead to six points at 62-56 just four minutes into the half, but the Mariners responded with a 14-5 run to pad their lead to 15 points at 76-61 with 11 minutes left in regulation. Napa cut the lead to 10 at 80-70 with eight minutes remaining but would get no closer as the Mariners finished out the game for a 101-90 final score.

The Mariners topped 100 points for the third time this season. Robinson had 27, Jackson had 18 points, and Derek Morgan also added 18 points of his own. Napa was led by Jabriel Allen who had 34 points while Trent Rojas had 28.

Marin enjoys a day of recuperation before traveling to Merritt College on Friday, January 20th.
