College of Marin Men’s Basketball Undone By Slow Start in 83-68 Loss

A good start and a good finish is an excellent formula to success in a basketball game. While the Mariners did finish the game strong, it was not enough to offset for the cold start that began Wednesday's game against Mendocino College. The visitors poured in the first 17 points of the game, and while COM rallied, they were unable to draw even in their eventual 83-68 loss to Mendocino.

Mendocino College made five three pointers in the first four minutes of play and held a 17-0 lead before JT Robinson scored Marin's points of the game courtesy of two free throws. Marin cut the deficit to 28-14 ten minutes into the first half but Mendocino pushed Marin and took a 45-23 lead into the halftime locker room.

Marin had a better showing in the second half as cut the lead back to 15 at 59-44 with 10 minutes left in the game. They unfortunately got no closer than that as the score line read 83-68 at the final buzzer.

JT Robinson had four three pointers in the second half and led the Mariners with 23 points. Corey James was the top scorer for Mendocino College with 21 points, via seven made three pointers.

The Mariners will regroup and get ready for Friday evening's showdown with the College of Alameda. The game will be played at Laney College beginning at 7PM.
