Men’s Basketball Drops Foothill Tournament Game To Feather River 87-76

The Mariners endured a tough second game in as many days at the Foothill Tournament. After dropping the opener to the Victor Valley Rams, the Mariners fell to Feather River 87-76 on the second day of competition. Marin was paced by Freshman Kevin Kahriman, who led the team with 20 points.

The Feather River Golden Eagles started the game on the break, with a quick lead that left the Mariners trailing early. While they fell behind, the Mariners did not give up, as they continued to play with heart and tenacity. The halftime deficit was 21 points, but they did not go quietly.

In the second half, Marin found their stride, and rallied hard. Feather River looked to cruise in the second half, but the Mariners would not allow it. Marin heavily cut into the deficit and brought it to within six points late in the game. Feather River managed to withstand the Mariners rally, but the game clearly showed the Mariners on the rise.

Kahriman had a career high 20 points in the loss. Derek Morgan continued his ever efficient run with 19 points, and 18 rebounds on the afternoon. Joey Potts chipped in 16 points, eight rebounds and three steals, while Eric Mireri contributed seven points, five rebounds and four assists.

"We are still working to put a whole game together," said Head Coach Scott Thom "Embracing roles, as well as fundamentals will bring us a level of focus and effort to give us an opportunity to succeed."

Marin continues their search for the illusive first win at De Anza College on Wednesday, December 13th at 5PM.
