Men’s Soccer Grabs First Win of The Season Over Folsom Lake 3-2

The College of Marin Men’s Soccer team’s record doesn’t accurately represent their talent level. Friday’s match against Folsom Lake showed the team’s true potential as they pulled out a gutsy 3-2 win over conference rival Folsom Lake.

Team captain Julien Melendez opened the scoring in the ninth minute off a feed from Pedro Romero to give the Mariners an early 1-0 lead. Evan De Leon doubled the Mariners lead in the 31st, with the assist credited to Nick Silva.  Christian Cardoza scored twice for Folsom Lake before Julien Melendez put the Mariners ahead for good giving them a 3-2 lead. Mariners’ goalkeeper Colin Sneddon stopped four shots in the match as well.

After going winless in their first nine matches of the season the team earned a draw and now win in their previous two matches. They sit in fourth place, currently tied Mendocino College. The Mariners face Napa College at home on Tuesday, October 13th
