Men’s Soccer Earns First Points With 1-1 Draw Versus Contra Costa

The College of Marin Men’s Soccer team has not had the easiest start to their season, but Tuesday’s match against Contra Costa marked the beginning of the turnaround.  An early goal gave the Mariners the lead, which they held until the second half. Contra Costa equalized but Marin held on for the draw and the point.

Edward Rodas scored in the 20th minute to put the Mariners on top. Marin goalkeeper Colin Sneddon made a key save just before the break to keep Marin on top. In the second half Contra Costa found the equalizing goal in the 60th minute. Jesus Villagrana scored for the Comets and both teams looked for the winner in the final half hour.  Rodas was shown a red card in the 80th minute for profanity, primarily caused by an elbow to the face. Though the Mariners played down a man the final ten minutes, they held on for the draw.

College of Marin plays next at Folsom Lake College on Friday, October 9th
