College of Marin Drops Close Match 2-0 to Chabot College

The College of Marin Men's Soccer Team competed against Chabot College in Hayward on Friday, September 4th. Chabot emerged with the victory 2-0 but there were several standout performances by Marin throughout the match.

The Mariners yielded an early goal in the third minute to German Villalobos of Chabot before settling down and competing well. For Coach Chris King "We let one get away from us, we outplayed a very physical team, and we found some good form in terms of possession play transition from the middle to attacking third and created a number of attacking opportunities. We couldn't quite finish any of our chances but we showed marked improvement all over the field."

The teams played evenly after the opening goal with Marin getting several chances to equalize. Unfortunately, they exposed themselves to the counter attack as Chabot scored their second in the 87th minute giving the final score line of 2-0.

Despite the loss there were several standout performances for Coach King, "Edward Rodas had a great game, Schyler Baxter also played well. Henry Mata did a great job moving to holding midfield from the backline for the game and he looked great in that position. We are going to continue adjusting formations to personnel as we move forward."

The Mariners have their first home game of the season on Tuesday, September 8th against Butte College.
