Another game and another day of dormant offense for the College of Marin Men's Soccer Team. Tuesday's match had the chance to be a high scoring affair, but only Contra Costa found the scoresheet in their 3-0 victory in Kentfield.

The game began even enough, with both teams sharing the time of possession, however as the first half wore on, it became clear that the visiting Contra Costa had the upper hand in the match. The Comets scored their first goal in the 38^th minute as a combo play was finished off by Abdulahi Mohammed to make the score 1-0. Both teams entered the break with a sense of frustration, Contra Costa believing they could have scored more than once, and Marin thinking it should still be a scoreless match.

There was a scary moment in the first half as Marin forward Francesco Coccaro had to have his right knee immobilized in an inflatable cast after a collision with a Contra Costa player. Despite the apparent severity of the injury, he was able to sit on the bench with his teammates following some treatment.

The Mariners began the second half with a sense of belief, but unfortunately they could not create any threatening goal scoring opportunities. Despite attempting several long balls over the top, they were unable to push across the tying goal. Contra Costa continued to press on but did not breakthrough again until the 85^th minute of the match. A ball cleared out of the Marin box fell to George Burrows who unleashed a laser from the left flank that flew into the top corner of the net, doubling the Contra Costa lead. The Comets added a third just a minute later as a counter attack setup Francisco Hernandez to score his team's third of the match.

The game got a bit chippy at the end with a pair of yellow cards handed out to Marin's Eduardo Rodriguez and William Connelly. William Finnie had seven saves on ten chances in the match for the Mariners. 

The Mariners' week concludes with a trip to Mendocino at 4PM on Friday, October 14^th.
