Men’s Soccer Falls To Mendocino College On The Road 2-0

The goals remain few and far between for the College of Marin Men's Soccer Team with the trend continuing in Ukiah on Friday. The Mariners traveled to face Mendocino in Bay Valley Conference play and were again shutout. They allowed a pair of goals early to the Mendocino Eagles before tightening up and playing a solid final 70 minutes of soccer.

The breakthrough for Mendocino came early with Brendan Valador pounced on a loose ball and beat Marin keeper William Finnie in the sixth minute for the 1-0 Mendocino lead. 13 minutes later Mendocino scored again as Jose Araiza fed Chase Johnson for an early 2-0 lead. After those early defensive lapses, the Mariners improved their level of play considerably. College of Marin came close three times but could not beat Mendocino keeper Luis Zavala.

For Head Coach Jake Morrison "It was a very good game for us" despite "conceding both very early." The Mariners have scored just three times in five conference games, and all three came in the team's 2-3 victory at Yuba College on October 4th.

Up next is a home date against Merritt College on October 25th at 4pm.
