The duo of Sophomore Swimmer Hope Garrett and Sophomore Diver Brandon Guy visited East LA College to represent College of Marin at the State Swim & Dive Championships.
Guy qualified for the state finals one meter diving competition with a score of 121. 20 in the NorCal Diving Championships. He better himself at the state finals with a final score of 126.35. He was seeded 16th to start, but improved to 12th position with his performance.
Hope Garrett had a tiring set of races as she qualified for the 100 and 200 yard butterfly in addition to the 100 yard backstroke. In the 200 yard butterfly her preliminary time was 2:19.62. In the finals she improved by more than a second and finished the race in 2:18.44 good for 12th place overall. In the 100 yard butterfly her preliminary time was 1:01.33. Garrett slipped a bit in the finals finishing 16th with a time of 1:01.65. She grabbed 17th place in the 100 yard backstroke.
Garrett's placement in the 100 and 200 yard butterfly helped her qualify as an All-American.
It was an incredible season for the College of Marin Swim & Dive Team. Guy and Garrett embody what it means to be a Mariner.
