College of Marin Track & Field Succeeds in Busy Weekend

It is rare for a track team to have two meets on the same day, but it did happen for College of Marin. The lion share of the team spent Friday and Saturday at San Francisco State, but one Mariners spent his Friday at the Stanford Invitational.

College of Marin's Emile Del Barrio garnered an invitation to run at Stanford in the 400-meter dash. His field of competitors featured athletes from, Stanford, Cal, Cal Poly, and Washington. Del Barrio was one of just two junior College competitors, as Quincy Hall from College of Sequoias emerged with the win in the event. Del Barrio clocked in with a time of 51.07 seconds, a very good time for the freshman.

At the SFSU Distance Carnival Freshman Haziel Garcia performed magnificently in the two-mile run. He finished in 19th in the field of 34, with a time of 10:26.71, a new personal record. Teammate Mark Wang also competed in the event and set a personal best in 11 minutes and 6.54 seconds.

Poy Khaophuan was the other men's competitor for College of Marin as he ran in the 200-meter dash and finished with a time of 25.90 seconds.

For the Women's Team, Grace Davis ran in the 200 meter and 400 meter dashes. She finished her 400-meter dash in 1:06.62 and her 200 meter in 28.57 seconds. Kim Maxwell also took to the track in the 200 meter dash and finished in 30.32 seconds.
