COM Track & Field Competes At NorCal Trials

College of Marin Track & Field traveled to DeAnza College on Thursday for the NorCal Trials. Four Marin athletes took part in three separate events. Emile Del Barrio competed in the 400 meter dash, and Zachary Ahlin in the pole vault. They were joined by Poy Khaophuan and Shigekazu Miyamoto in the 4x400 team relay. 

Emile Del Barrio completed his 2017 season with a very competitive run finishing 11th in 50.71 seconds. He missed qualifying for the NorCal Finals by just .30 seconds. He returned to running this season after a post high school layoff.  Coach Liz Gill on Del Barrio's season "He has been a team leader on and off the track and there is much more to come for him! He also recently found out he was accepted to UC Davis so will be continuing his academic career there." 

In the pole vault competition Zachary Ahlin qualified for the NorCal finals next week with a height of 4.06 meters. 

In the 4x400 meter relay the Marin team finished with a time of 3:40.72. They finished 16th, four seconds off their season high mark.

The season continues on next week as Ahlin will compete at the NorCal finals, looking to qualify for the State Track & Field Championships.
