Women’s Basketball Drops Road Game To Mendocino College 82-58

A long drive followed by a long game was not the medicine for College of Marin Women's Basketball on New Years Eve Eve. The road game at Mendocino College did not go in Marin's favor as a sluggish third quarter led to an 82-58 loss.

Marin was only able to dress five healthy players, and while they battled throughout, fatigue and sheer numbers was not enough to overcome the host team Mendocino. The first quarter was a shooting clinic for the Eagles as they nailed five three pointers to open up a 23-13 lead. The second quarter swung the other way as Marin cut the lead at the half to 41-33.

The third quarter decided the game as Mendocino outscored Marin by 16 points in a 19-3 quarter that made the result all but a certainty. The fourth was played evenly but the damage was done with Marin on the wrong side of the 82-58 final score line.

The five active players did their best throughout as four of five registered double digit rebounds and three players scored in double figures. Daniella Cerruti led Marin with 22 points and also grabbed 10 rebounds and collected four steals. Regan Andel had 11 points and 14 rebounds, while Tori Buckley had eight points, 10 rebounds and three acrobatic blocks. Mendocino's leading scorer was Leksi Lincoln who had 34 points including eight three pointers on 12 attempts.

Marin has a few days off before beginning a three game week. They host Laney and Los Medanos before traveling to Solano College on January 7th.
