Women’s Basketball Drops Home Game To Los Medanos 76-50

College of Marin has been yet to right the ship in the calendar year. Their second game of 2017 was better than the first, but still resulted in a loss, as the visitors from Los Medanos grabbed their first win of the season by a 76-50 score.

Los Medanos held a 16-9 advantage at the end of the first quarter and extended it to 35-22 at the half. While Marin began the third quarter with good intensity and energy, the shots would not fall for the home squad. Los Medanos on the other hand, hit three pointers on three consecutive possessions to take a commanding 51-33 lead heading to the final 10 minutes. Marin did get their best offensive quarter of the game in the fourth as play opened up, but it was not enough as Los Medanos also scored at will, leading to a final score of 76-50.

Daniella Cerruti exploded in the second half for Marin, as she scored 17 points on the evening while adding three rebounds, four assists and three steals. Her backcourt teammate Tori Buckley filled up her stat sheet with nine points, 14 rebounds and six steals. Sophomore Ureka Abbushi had 10 points and 11 rebounds while forward Regan Andel added seven points and 11 rebounds of her own in the Mariners' loss.

Next up for Marin is a Saturday afternoon visit to Fairfield as they take on the Solano College Falcons at 1PM on Saturday, January 7th
