COM Women’s Basketball Outrun by Solano College Falcons 96-33

Marin kept it close in the first quarter, as they trailed by just six points after the first 10 minutes of play. Ureka Abbushi hit a pair of three pointers to keep it close as the score line read 19-13. The second quarter saw Solano College hit their stride as they scored 26 points to Marin's eight for a 45-21 halftime score.

The second half was a struggle for visiting Marin as they could manage only 12 points in the final 20 minutes of play, while on the other hand Solano scored 51. Marin was hampered by having only five players dressed for game. In addition, Marin's Regan Andel fouled out with 8:30 remaining in the fourth quarter, leaving the remaining four players to compete against the five of Solano. The home team graciously opted to run the shot clock down on most possessions and did not run up the score in the final minutes of the game.

Despite the 96-33 score line, there were several excellent contributions from Mariner players. Ureka Abbushi led Marin with 17 points, as she made three three pointers, and added eight rebounds, two assists, three steals and a pair of blocks. Daniella Cerruti had eight points and five rebounds while Tori Buckley had two points, six rebounds, three assists, two steals and three blocks.

After a grueling three game week, Marin has an extra day of rest before they host Yuba College on Tuesday, January 10th
