Mariners Drop Close Game Versus Los Medanos 62-57

A tight game came down to the final minutes as Marin ended up on the wrong side of the ledger as Los Medanos made key shots down the stretch to take a 62-57 win. The Mariners trailed 56-53 when Tori Buckley's three pointer with under three minutes remaining rattled in and out. Unable to draw any closer, Marin pressured the home team but could not cut into the deficit as the home team held on for the win.

The first quarter was evenly matched as Marin trailed by a single point 14-13 after 10 minutes of play. Marin took control in the second quarter with a 10-6 run to end the half and took a 30-25 lead into the locker room. Amari Allison led Marin in the first half scoring 11 points while Buckley added eight of her own from a pair of three pointers and free throws.

Los Medanos took tied up the game halfway through the third at 35-35 and pushed their advantage to 41-38 with under ten seconds remaining in the quarter. Tori Buckley fed Daniella Cerruti for a game tying three as the clock expired. The fourth quarter began tied at 41-41 and remained tied at 48 with 7:56 remaining.

The deadlock remained until the home team took a three point lead with five minutes left on the clock. Buckley's three threatened to tie the game but it went awry. The Mustangs pushed the lead to 60-53 with a minute left, and while Allison scored to cut the lead to 60-55 Marin could get no closer as time expired with a 62-57 final score.

Allison led Marin with 21 points and 14 rebounds, she added six steals and five assists. Buckley had 14 points seven rebounds, six assists, four steals and two blocks, while Daniella Cerruti chipped in 10 points and two steals.
