Women’s Soccer Shows Growth in 5-0 Loss to Chabot

Despite the score line, College of Marin Women's Soccer is getting better with every game. After falling down four goals in the first half Friday against Chabot College, they rallied and were the dominate side for much of the second half before dropping the match with a final score of 5-0.

The Mariners had a pair of chances early as Elise Perez found Tatum Robach down the left flank but her shot was saved by the Chabot keeper for a corner and subsequent attempt was unsuccessful. Fifteen minutes and Chabot scored twice in quick succession with a pair of close range rebounds. The heat and fatigue appeared to take its toll in the latter portion of the first half and Chabot took advantage with two more goals before the break.

The team came out with renewed resiliency in the second half with several excellent passing sequences, however they were unable to get a quality shot on goal. Perez slalomed between four Chabot defenders before apparently being taken down in the box, however no foul was called. The Chabot counter attack saw a lofted shot from 30 yards find the back of the net for their fifth goal of the match. The final 20 minutes of the match saw few real opportunities for either team to score as it ended with a 5-0 score.

The Mariners host Skyline College on Tuesday at 3PM.
