The final week of the regular season is as good a time as ever for the College of Marin Women's Soccer team to find a grove. After a close 1-0 loss to Mendocino last week, the Mariners took that momentum to visiting Napa Valley College and delivered their first home win of the season 2-0.  

Marin started out well with a few well-placed shots on goal. The even hit the woodwork on a half volley in the 20^th minute. The Mariners found the breakthrough in the 31^st minute as a Napa foul in the box yielded a penalty try for College of Marin. Christine Wilhoyte confidently strode forward a delivered a shot high and hard to the left of the Napa Keeper for a 1-0 lead. The Mariners entered the halftime break with their first, first half lead of the year.

College of Marin opened the second half on the attack, but were unable to find a quick second goal. Napa had a pair of solid attacks, but Marin Keeper Casey Cavender parried the oncoming shots. The game looked to go down to the wire when Grisel Hernandez took a Marin clearance down the right side and hit a picture perfect diagonal cross to Tatum Robuch who shot left channel past the keeper to double the Marin advantage. The 84^th minute goal gave Marin the momentum to maintain the clean sheet and take the victory 2-0. The central defensive pairing of Maddie Bailey and Elise Perez did an excellent job of supporting the keeper Cavender who had three saves for her second shutout of the season.

Coach Andrew Jones was ecstatic about the victory, "Our team played very organized defensively and managed to create a lot of good scoring opportunities. Our group is continuing to show improvement every game, it is nice to see our group put it all together for our first win at the home of the year."

The win vaults Marin into a tie for fourth place in the Bay Valley Conference. A win in their final game of the season against Merritt at home at 1pm on Thursday, November 10^th will give Marin sole possession of fourth place at season's end.
