Strong Defense, Robach’s Brace Maintain Mariners' Unblemished Record

College of Marin Women's Soccer continued its impressive start to the 2017 season with a 2-0 home win over College of the Siskiyous. The Mariners were paced by a pair of goals from Sophomore Tatum Robach and an excellent performance in goal by Shanan Daly.

The Mariners grabbed an early goal. With Robach finding the net inside the first twenty minutes of play. She took a pass from Ana Kravitz on the left wing, beat her defender middle and rocketed a right footed shot past the Siskiyous keeper into the net. It was Robach's 8th goal in just four games this season.

Siskiyous did their best to attack the Marin goal, but the backline and defensive midfielders Kravitz and Godoy did an excellent job of breaking up the oppositions' flow.

Marin entered halftime with the lead, but unsatisfied by the current 1-0 score line. Coach Jones implored his team to continue pushing forward and being aggressive.

The defense of the Mariners remained stout, and the aggression came, namely from Robach who took the ball nearly 30 yards, past two defenders and into the net past the outstretched arms of the opposing goalie.  With a two goal lead the Mariners continued to look for more. While they failed to increase their margin, the defense remained stout with Disa Johannson and Lauren Timmons both providing excellent coverage in central defense.

Time expired as the Mariners earned their second win of the year. They remain undefeated with two victories and two draws. Goalkeeper Shanan Daly recorded her first clean sheet of the season while Robach's goal haul is up to nine in just four games. Robach's tally has her at third in the state and second in goals per game.

Coach Jones was clearly happy with his team's performance, "it's exciting to see our group continue to improve every game. Everyone is getting a lot my comfortable with playing their positions and playing as a team. We are excited for Friday, and for preparing for the start of league play next week."

The Mariners host Butte College in a non-conference game on Friday, September 15th before opening conference play with Yuba College on September 22nd.
