COM Women’s Soccer Draws Even At Yuba College 1-1

The Mariners took the long road to Marysville to face Yuba College on Friday, October 20th. The result, a hard fought 1-1 draw against the 49ers.

The mariners opened the game as the dominate team, with a few shots across the face of goal that were denied by the Yuba goalkeeper, Laura Lichtenberger. The mariners got on the board first as Ana Kravitz led Tatum Robach with a perfect pass, who converted her close range opportunity for a 1-0 Marin lead.

The lead held for just ten minutes as Yuba responded in a hurry. Teresa Rodriguez intercepted a long pass, dribbled in and beat Mariners keeper Shanan Daly to tie the score up at 1-1. From that point forward the game played to a stalemate, Robach had a few chances to untie the score in the second half but they were no avail.

The Mariners defense did their best to contain the Yuba attacked and kept the home team from scoring any further. The backline of Sophia Vanderheym, Lauren Timmons, Madeline De Carlo and Disa Johannson did an excellent job keeping the 49ers at bay.

One incident that did occur in the latter half of the match were a pair of yellow cards to Marin's Shanan Daly. Twice the Marin keeper had dangerous one on one challenges against oncoming attackers and earned a red card for the second incident.

While her sending off did not have an effect on the result of Friday's game, she is suspended for Marin's next game.

Robach scored her tenth goal of the season, while Kravitz recorded her four assist of the year.

The Mariners host Solano College at 4pm on Tuesday, October 23rd.
