Mariners Volleyball Defeats Mendocino In Thrilling Season Finale 3-2
College of Marin Volleyball finished off the season with a five set victory over Mendocino College. With only six players and several nagging injuries, the Mariners needed every point to defeat the Golden Eagles. The win gave the Mariners at 7-9 record, and a fifth place finish in the Bay Valley Conference.

The first set was a highly contested affair with the Mariners escaping with a 25-22 victory. The second set was even closer with a long extended bout that Mendocino won 34-32. The third set also went Mendocino’s way 26-24. Down 2-1, the Mariners battled back to win the fourth set 25-22 to force a decisive fifth set. The Mariners endured five service errors to win the set 15-11, giving them the victory.

Tate Dobbins had 22 kills, five assists and 24 digs in her five sets of play. Jenny Huezo notched 42 assists, six kills, six aces and six digs. Kailey Walker had 19 kills, 23 digs, and four aces.  

The Mariners finished the season on a high note, winning two of their final three matches and three of their final six.

Tate Dobbins finished first in the conference in kills per set with 3.82 and second in overall kills with 271. Her hitting percentage of .283 is fifth best in the conference as well. Jenny Huezo is fifth in the conference with 6.1 assists per set. Kailey Walker is second in the conference at 0.79 aces per set and her 61 total aces is third best in the Bay Valley Conference.
