Kailey Walker Does It All On Sophomore Night Loss To Solano College

Although it has been a less than perfect season for the College of Marin Volleyball team, the effort never wanes. Lone sophomore Kailey Walker is the personification of the team's spirit. The transfer from Contra Costa College has been a versatile leader through the ups and downs of the season as the team fought through injuries, inexperience and depth issues.  In the face of adversity the Mariners have found a way to compete against even the toughest opponents.

On Friday, against Solano College the Mariners battled mightily, with the first set a mere three point affair with Solano winning 25-22. The second set saw the Mariners fall 25-18 before Solano took the third set decisively 25-14. Despite the loss, the Mariners, who sit at 6-9 in conference play, can take sole possession of fifth place with a win over Mendocino College on Tuesday.

Walker led her team in digs with 10, and also contributed five kills and an ace. Her 0.79 aces per set is fourth in the state and her 57 total aces is fifth in the state.  Tate Dobbins had 12 kills for the Mariners and Jenny Huezo had 20 assists as well.

The Mariners final game of the season is at Mendocino College on Tuesday, November 17th.
