COM Volleyball Nabs First Conference Win At Contra Costa 3-0

Marin exerted its dominance for the second match in a row as they dominated the Contra Costa Comets from the first serve to the last in a straight set victory. The Mariners used a balanced attack to bury their opposition by the scores of 25-10, 25-15 and 25-12.

Marin dominated in the first few sequences and was off to the races. The first set victory of 25-10 could easily have been a higher score differential. The second set was a bit more balanced as Contra Costa adjusted, but the home team could only muster 15 total points while Marin achieved the perfunctory 25. Even in the third set as many regulars rested, the Mariners kept the pressure up and allowed just 12 points to the Comets.

Statistically the team performed very well. With a hitting percentage .136. They racked up 22 kills and 18 service aces while committing just 13 hitting errors and 7 service errors.

Sarah Harris was immensely effective all over the floor with four kills, six aces and 17 assists. She added a block and a block assist for an 11.5 point day. Her sister Emma was also very impressive with a 12 point evening. She had six kills, six aces and a pair of digs.

"It was a collaborative effort. Our team continues to gel and trust each other more and more with each match. This is great momentum for us heading into our match against Yuba," said Coach Gera.

The Mariners host Yuba College on Friday, September 22nd for their first home match of conference play.
