Mariner’s Volleyball Sweeps College of Alameda 3-0

College of Marin Volleyball enjoyed an excellent end to the week with a 3-0 sweep of the Alameda Cougars on Friday. They had a magnificent statistical game and executed their attack with ruthless efficiency as they hit .324 as a team and committed just 14 total errors in the match.

The first set was tightly contested as Alameda began on a nice little run. Despite the early deficit Marin continued to chip away and managed to pull out a 25-21 first set victory. From that point on it was merely academic as to what the final score line would read. Marin pressed on to take the second set 25-12 and the third and decisive final set by a score of 25-10

Salomi Galodamu was unavailable due to an injury suffered in practice. In her stead Ashley Chanthongthip stepped in and did a wonderful job in the middle while delivering five service aces. Alejandra Leon had a career match on the attack with a .433 hitting percentage, recording 16 kills against just three errors in 30 attacks.  Sarah Harris was an efficient setter as usual with 27 assists, two digs and four kills in five total attacks.

The Mariners improved their Bay Valley Conference record to 9-4 and their overall record to 13-9. The team has three conference matches remaining on the season. On Tuesday, November 7th the Mariners host Solano College. November 8th sees Marin host Mendocino College before their final match of the season on Friday, November 10th at Laney College.
