College of Marin Volleyball Falls To Solano 3-0 At Home

Mariners Volleyball had a difficult match on Tuesday against the perennial BVC Conference favorites from Solano College. The mariners put up their best effort but were out manned and out gunned in a three set loss, 25-14, 25-20 and 25-15.

The visitors from Fairfield hit at an incredible percentage on the match. They dominated the first set 25-14, but Marin did their best to rebound with an impressive second set where they lost by just five points 25-20. The third set was more lopsided in Solano's favor but the Mariners did manage to score 15 in the 25-15 final set.

On the match Solano's hitting average was .479 with just 6 errors against 40 kills in 71 total attacks. The Mariners were not as efficient, managing 19 kills against 12 errors on 76 total attacks for a percentage of .092.

Alejandra Leon led the way for the Mariners with nine kills and five errors on 29 attacks. She also recorded an ace, 1.5 blocks and five digs. Salomi Galodamu had six kills, two aces and five digs while Sarah Harris had 16 assists, two aces and four digs.

The loss put Marin's record at 13-10 overall and 9-5 in conference. With wins in their final two conference games the Mariners have a chance to tie for third place.

The Mariners face Mendocino at home on Wednesday, November 8th before traveling to Laney College on Friday, November 10th.
