John “JD” Dohn has always been driven by his strong passion for competition. Drawn by the competitive athletics, John came to College of Marin in the fall of 1969 after graduating from Terra Linda High School. Dohn was thrilled to have to the opportunity to continue his gridiron career. John played cornerback for the College of Marin football team and was a member of the relay team for Track & Field.

At College of Marin, Dohn received First Team Camino Norte Conference honors for football in the midst of a winless season. Dohn, along with his teammates also set the College of Marin record for the 4x100 relay in 1970. “I cannot give back what [College of Marin] gave to me” Dohn said, “It was a magical time for me,” as he fondly remembers.  

The fellow students and coaching staff were gifts that Dohn took away from his time at College of Marin. He was heavily influenced by the coaching staff; notably coaches Pete Limm, Jim McGowan and John Panagakis.  After his time at College of Marin, Dohn attended the University of Pacific where he continued to play football. After graduating from Chico State University, he competed in men’s fast-pitch softball and won four National Championship, as well as, a New Zealand National Championship in 1981. He currently works in the real estate industry in Marin County.
