Sport: Women's Basketball Coach

Mike Fulton has been a women’s basketball coach nearly his entire life. After graduating from Drake high school, Mike Fulton enrolled at College of Marin, while at the same time he served as an assistant coach for the Drake Girls Basketball team.

Fulton initially enrolled at College of Marin to pursue academic endeavors but opted to compete for the Men’s Basketball team as well. He played from 1984-1986 before transferring to Cal Lutheran College to finish his playing career. Mike began his Marin County coaching odyssey at Terra Linda High School where he served as head coach from 1992-1997.

He took over the COM Women’s Basketball program in 1997 and led them to their greatest period of success. In his first year at the helm, he guided the team to a 15-14 record and a berth in the state playoffs despite having a team with 8 players who had never played before.

In his seven years at College of Marin, Fulton led the Mariners to six state tournaments and two Bay Valley Conference titles. They advanced to the Elite Eight of the State Championships in 2002 where they lost to eventual State Champion Ventura College by just nine points. The following year they reached the State Semifinals where they were defeated by fellow BVC rival Contra Costa College.

Fulton departed College of Marin in 2004 but remained well entwined in Marin women’s basketball. He led Branson High School to a pair of state titles in 2007 and 2008 before his current employment at San Domenico.
