College of Marin

Peter Arrigoni is well known throughout Marin for his work in local politics as well as with the
Marin Builders Association; however, prior to that, he had an illustrious athletic career
beginning at St. Ignatius High School in San Francisco playing football, baseball, track and lightweight basketball. Arrigoni excelled in all sports receiving scholarship offers from many prestigious Bay Area universities including St. Mary’s, Santa Clara and USF. However, instead of taking any of these rides, he decided on the College of Marin.

While at COM, he played three sports—baseball, football, and track—excelling so much in football that the San Francisco 49ers signed him to a contract. He would never get to play for the Niners as he opted to serve in the Coast Guard during the Korean War. After five years in the Coast Guard, the Niners offered Arrigoni another contract; however, he declined to take a football/baseball scholarship at the University of Arizona in 1956. Over the next two years he played wide receiver on the football team and both relief pitcher and outfield on the baseball team.

After his senior season, the 49ers once again drafted Arrigoni in the 17th round; however, he declined yet again due to a baseball injury and officially retired from sports. Upon retirement he was able to marry his wife Pat and continue with his education. After a degree in business and economics, he and Pat moved back to the Marin in 1959. For the next 20 years he focused on his career in the stock market. From the stock market he went on to his career in politics and then to work with the Marin Builders Association.
