Aly Alvardo, Men's Soccer

Men’s Soccer player Aly Alvarado named Co-Mariner of the Month for October. The sophomore goalkeeper for the men’s soccer team has been tremendous in the start of conference play. The Mariners secured their first conference win against Mendocino on October 4th when Aly saved the penalty pick late in the second half.  This was the second game in a row that Alvarado saved a PK  

As a freshman, Aly started in 11 games and completed the season with 46 saves at .639%. So far this season, Alvarado .686 save percentage, which ranks him eighth in the state. 

In August 2022, Aly was offered a scholarship to play for the Academy of Art University in San Francisco, an NCAA Division II program. He decided to finish his athletic and academic career at College of Marin and would be able to transfer mid-year to a four-year institution in the Spring of 2023.  

Why did you choose College of Marin?  

To continue my soccer and learning career.  

What are your academic/career goals?  

My academic goal would be to graduate from a 4-year.  

How do you manage being a full-time student and an athlete 

You get to the point where being a student and an athlete are the main priorities you have to keep first.  

What do you enjoy about athletics?  

I enjoy being able to contribute my skills to a team and have that responsibility to not only be representing myself but my school as well.
