Men's Basketball sophomore, Devin Mims, earned the title of Co-Mariner of the Month for his exceptional contributions both on and off the court for the month of January. 

A Sophomore Forward Evolution 

Hailing from Marin, CA, Devin Mims has proven himself as a formidable sophomore forward. His growth since his freshman year is evident in his statistics and his overall game. Currently averaging 8.7 points per game and an impressive 7.1 rebounds, Devin showcases his versatility and dedication to his team's success. Notably, he boasts a commendable shooting percentage of 30.8% from beyond the arc, demonstrating his ability to stretch the floor and contribute to the team's offensive strategy. 

Excellence in Academics and Athletics 

Devin's commitment to excellence extends beyond the basketball court and into the classroom. His consistency and dedication are reflected in his academic achievements, as he was recognized as one of the 72 scholar-athletes who achieved a remarkable 3.0 GPA or higher for the Fall 2023 semester. Devin's ability to balance the demands of athletics and academics underscores his exceptional work ethic and determination to succeed both on and off the court. 

Outstanding Performance Against Contra Costa College 

Devin's stellar performance came in the 87-84 victory over Contra Costa College on January 17th. Scoring 17 points and shooting an impressive 5-9 from the field, he also demonstrated precision from the free-throw line with a remarkable 87.5% success rate, going 7-8. Additionally, Devin contributed 7 rebounds and one assist to his stellar performance, showcasing his all-around impact on the game. 

A Bright Future Ahead 

Throughout January, Devin showcased his scoring prowess, totaling an impressive 72 points. As he continues to excel on the court, we eagerly anticipate where his journey will lead him beyond his time at COM. Devin's dedication, skill, and commitment to both athletics and academics serve as a testament to his character and potential for success in future endeavors.
