Garihan and Price are February's Mariners of the Month

Kentfield, CA--Though it is the shortest month of the year February did not lack for exciting play for the Mariners. With Baseball picking up steam, Swim & Dive and Track starting off their years, and Men's & Women's Basketball coming to a close there were plenty of athletes deserving of praise. But two individuals separated themselves from the pack.

Dominic Garihan, the right-handed pitcher, had a stellar month on the bump for the Mariners. Dominic has fit nicely into the starter role for the Mariners. The freshman struck-out 27 batters while issuing just three walks in twenty-five and two-thirds innings over 4 starts. Seventeen of those K's came against the City College of San Francisco on February 15th when Garihan dealt a no-hitter. A feat which earned him NorCal Player of the Week honors as awarded by the CCCBCA for February 15th-21st.

For the second time in as many months Jaychelle Price's hard work and determination on the court have earned her Mariner of the Month honors. Jaychelle, the team captain this season, did a bit of everything this season for Marin, being asked to play out of position regularly, and despite the hardship continued to put up big numbers for the Mariners. In February Price scored in double-digits in every game and matched her season high in scoring at 23 against Yuba on the 12th of February. The sophomore's outstanding play was also recognized by her foes when she was named to the Bay Valley All-Conference First Team.
