Jacob Campbell - Baseball

Jacob Campbell - Baseball

A Baseball sophomore from Pinole Valley has been named Co-Mariner of the Month for March. Jacob has been an outstanding student-athlete during his time as a Mariner. Being a full-time student-athlete comes with great commitment, Jacob has a 3.69 cumulative GPA.

In the third game of the season, Campbell was a single shy of a cycle with a double, a triple, and a home run. His start to the season was an indication of his determination to make this his best season as a Mariner. As of today, Jacob has played 27 games, .363 AVG, 7 HR, 35 RBI, 39 R, and 10 SB. We are excited to see how Jacob continues to work hard on the field and in the classroom this season. At the end of the semester, Jacob will be receiving his Associate of Arts Liberal Arts Degree and he plans to continue his academic and athletic career at a four-year institution.

Why did you choose College of Marin?

I choose the College of Marin because of the great winning tradition the baseball program has, and my older brother played baseball as well for Skip in 2006 and 2007.

What are your academic/career goals?

My academic and career goals consist of earning a scholarship to go play at the 4-year level to earn a degree that can help me get a job for my future, but I plan on playing baseball for as long as I can

How do you manage being a full-time student and an athlete?

Being a student-athlete is a full-time job that comes with a lot of responsibilities and can be very hard sometimes, but I wouldn’t trade it for anything. You have to have great time management so you can handle schoolwork but also put in the work needed for your sport.

What do you enjoy about athletics?

My favorite part of athletics is being apart a team and everyone working towards a common goal and along the way you share the successes and failures together.

What is your favorite quote?

My favorite quote is the Bible verse I have stitched on my glove,

“For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
Jeremiah 29:11
