Kaleah Williams Named January Women’s Mariner of the Month

Kaleah Williams, freshman guard for the Women’s Basketball team was name Women’s Mariner of the Month for January. She was instrumental in her team’s January success as the Mariners ended the month with a 6-4 record. 

After a couple of difficult performances to start the month, Williams hit her stride in the game against Solano College on January 6th. She tied for the team lead with 18 points including four made threes and added four rebounds, three assists and four steals in the Mariners 63-58 win.

Against the Napa Valley Storm on January 17th, Williams had another excellent game with 18 points, five assists and three steals in the Mariners 82-40 victory. Her season high in points at the time came on January 19th against Merritt College where she poured in 25 in the Mariners narrow loss to the Thunderbirds. Williams also added five rebounds, three assists and five steals in the game.

She matched that scoring output just five days later at Mendocino as she scored 25 points with seven assists and six steals in the Mariners 80-52 win over the Eagles. She did not disappoint in the final game of the month against Los Medanos College. In that competition the freshman had 22 points including five made threes and added two rebounds and an assist in the Mariners 70-63 loss to the Mustangs.

In ten games in the month of January, Williams averaged 15.8 points on 40.9 percent shooting, including 33.3 percent from distance. She also averaged 6 rebounds per game, 3.6 assists per game, and 3 steals per game.

Williams is an excellent building block for the Mariners and looks to improve her game further in the remainder of her Marin career.
