Men’s Soccer player Osbaldo Zacarias was named Co-Mariner of the Month for October. The freshman midfielder for the Men’s Soccer team a dynamo throughout the month. He played in all eight of the Mariners’ matches in October and recorded two assists. In addition, Zacarias was a key member of the Marin defense that recorded three shutouts in October.
The San Rafael grad showed his soccer acumen throughout the season and helped Marin to a 3-4-1 record in the month of October.
Zacarias willed the Mariners to their first BVC win on October 11th. He provided a key assist on the second goal of the game as he delivered a perfect through ball to Dany Rodas who capitalized with a goal. Marin led 2-0 at the time and went on to take the match 3-0 over Contra Costa.
The midfielder was essential in the 0-0 draw against the Napa Valley Storm on October 18th. The contentious match nearly came to blows by the final whistle, but Zacarias kept his cool, and help Marin get a result over the BVC leaders.
He was superb in the final match of the month on October 25th at Merritt College. He assisted on the lone goal of the match, supplying Daniil Menshikov for the game winning goal. Zacarias played excellent defense and kept the Thunderbirds from equalizing in the team’s eventual 1-0 victory.
Osbaldo has enjoyed an excellent freshman year in Black and Gold and looks to continue his run of play through the end of the year.
