College of Marin Beach Volleyball finished off their regular season competition with a pair of matches at Sierra College in Rocklin. The Mariners fell to the host school 5-0 but bounced back nicely and thrashed College of the Redwoods 5-0. Two Mariners' pairs also qualified for the pairs championship which was held on Friday April 27th.
College of Marin began Thursday with a match against the top Big 8 Team of Sierra College. It was the second time the team's played this season and while both resulted in a 5-0 win for Sierra College, the Mariners battled hard in Thursday's competition.
Emma Harris and Salomi Galodamu competed as the top seed, and fell 21-7 and 21-13. The twos matchup featured Diana Patrick and Sarah Harris, who fell 21-9 and 21-10. Hellen Sigaran and Ashley Chanthongthip were the three seed in a 21-5, and 21-5 match while Erika Eide and Francis Marin were the fours in a 21-7 and 21-4 match.
The Mariner's had a few hours of rest before competed against College of the Redwoods where only the top two Marin teams were needed. Harris and Galodamu were victorious in the top pairing 21-14 and 23-21 before Patrick and Harris completed the sweep with a 21-13 and 21-5 victory.
The victory over College of the Redwoods was third for Marin on the season. They finished their inaugural campaign with a 3-9 record overall and a 2-6 conference record good for fourth in the Big 8. The placement allowed the top two pairs to compete at the Big 8 Pairs Championship.
Emma Harris and Salomi Galodamu earned the ninth seed in the 16 team tournament and faced the three's team from Sierra College. Diana Patrick and Sarah Harris were the 10th seed and played the top team from Redwood in the first round of competition. Harris and Galodamu were defeated in their first two matches while Patrick and Harris won their first match before falling in their second and third.
While no Mariners' pairs advanced to the NorCal Finals, it was still a very successful first season for College of Marin Beach Volleyball.
