Mariners Falls To Contra Costa Comets On The Road 95-78

A shorthanded Marin team did their best to keep the game close, but after a back and forth first half, the host team Contra Costa went on a run to put the game away. Without two of their leading scorers, Trevelin Queen and Nylek Cobb, Marin put up a valiant effort for the road victory, but it was not to be as the Comets took the win by a score of 95-78.

The first half contained an exciting 20 minutes of basketball as both teams lit it up from all over the floor. Contra Costa held a slight 46-44 advantage at the break and shot 57% from the field. Marin appeared to run out of gas in the second half as Contra Costa opened up a double digit lead that they would not relinquish.

There were several bright spots for Marin as JT Robinson exhibited a dominate basketball display scoring 35 points and adding 10 rebounds and 4 assists. Jerald Hickham added 12 points and five steals while Karim N'Diaye nearly missed a double double with eight points and nine rebounds while adding three blocks. The Mariners shot 48% from the floor and 47% from beyond the arc.

Contra Costa dominated on the glass, led by Curtis Harris who had 25 points and 15 rebounds. Dwight Wilson added 19 points and five boards while Dru Solis had 18 points and five rebounds.

Marin has a few days off to rest and recuperate before hosting Napa on Wednesday, January 18th in Kentfield at 7:30PM.
