COM Basketball Undone by Solano College 70-58

The Mariners got off to a slow start on Friday against Solano and it doomed them to playing catchup for the entire game. While Marin made it competitive, in the end they were unable to overtake Solano in a 70-58 loss at home.

Solano jumped out to a big lead from the tip and never looked back. They took a 22-12 lead in the first ten minutes and extended the advantage to 37-18 at the end of the first half. Marin woke up a bit in the second half as they cut the lead to 41-26 five minutes in and brought the score within 10 at 43-33 with 11 minutes left on the clock.

Marin's defense did an excellent job in the second half, as they limited Solano to only six points in the beginning nine minutes of the second half. Try as they might however, Marin was unable to pull any closer than 10 as they slipped further back to a score line of 60-44 Solano with 4:30 left on the clock. A furious scoring barrage was not to be as Marin fell 70-58 in regulation.

Marin did has some positives in the loss. JT Robinson and Derek Morgan each recorded a double double. Robinson had 15 points, 10 rebounds, and three assists, while Morgan had 18 points, 11 rebounds, a steal and two blocks. Jack Soldavini chipped in eight points and four rebounds off the bench.

Marin has their toughest road game of the season on Wednesday, February 8th at Bay Valley Conference Leader Yuba College.
