Mariners Fail to Strike Gold At Yuba In 87-46 Loss

College of Marin Men's Basketball had their toughest road test of the year on Wednesday evening in Marysville. The Mariners faced the Yuba College 49ers and while spirits were high, the results did not follow. Marin was stymied by Yuba in the first half, who built a big lead and coasted to the 87-46 final score.

Yuba's defense smothered the COM offense, as Marin was limited to just 15 points in the first half, while Yuba poured in 43 of their own. Yuba let their foot off the gas in the second half as Marin managed 31 points but Yuba added 44 of their own as time expired with an 87-46 score.

Marin struggled with shooting the ball all evening as they were limited to 28% from the floor and just 16% from beyond the arc. In stark contrast Yuba shot the lights out, hitting 58% from the floor and 47% from beyond the arc.

Derek Morgan was the leading scorer for Marin with 18 points, he also added seven rebounds and a pair of steals. JT Robinson was the only other Mariner to score in double digits with 11 points. He chipped in four rebounds, six assists and two steals.

Yuba was very balanced offensively with eight players contributing six or more points. Brandon Ruaro was the game's leading scorer with 19 points on 5-8 shooting from beyond the arc.

Marin has a day off before hosting Contra Costa College in Kentfield on Friday.
