Men’s basketball Falls to Allan Hancock 113-78 in Ohlone Tournament

Mariners' Men's Basketball had a rough opening to the Ohlone College tournament on Thursday as they were met by the shooting firepower of the Bulldogs from Allan Hancock College. The Bulldogs hit 15 three pointers on the afternoon while the Mariners could manage just four of their own in a 113-78 loss on Thursday.

Allan Hancock came out of the gate firing on all cylinders as they racked up 59 first half points. The Mariners did their best to withstand the barrage but when the dust had cleared they trailed 59-29 after the first 20 minutes of play.

Marin did much better in the second half as they did not allow Allan Hancock to increase their lead by much. At the end of the game Hancock emerged with a 113-78 win, but the second half was much more competitive as Marin was outscored by just three 52-49.

Allan Hancock shot 54.8% for the game including 62.5% from three point range. Marin managed just 40.3% from the field with 19% shooting percentage from beyond the arc. Allan Hancock had five players score in double digits, led by Shane Carney with 23 points. Eric Mireri led the way for the Mariners with 18 points, Derek Morgan added 17 and Joey Potts had 12 points and three blocks on the afternoon.

The loss puts Marin up against Modesto College in the second round of the Ohlone Tournament.
