Mariners Fall to Mendocino Eagles 82-74

The Mariners competed well on Wednesday in Ukiah but it was not enough to upend their hosts from Mendocino. The Eagles out hustled the Mariners and defeated them 82-74 despite a balanced effort from Marin which saw five players eclipse the seven point mark on the evening.

Mendocino was the better team for the first twenty minutes of play, as they pounced on loose balls and made all the right plays to take an 11 point lead into halftime. The Mariners were the better team after the break as they pushed the tempo and began to win more of the 50/50 balls down the stretch.

It was not quite enough as the Mariners got the deficit to single digits, but could not complete the comeback. The result was an 82-74 win for the hosting Mendocino College Eagles.

Garrick Sherrod led the Mariners with 17 points while Kevin Kahriman had 15 points off the bench and added six rebounds. Derek Morgan had his chances to score limited, but managed eight points and 11 rebounds on the evening. Marin shot 48% as a team, but were limited to 5-18 from distance.

Jamralin Jackson led Mendocino with an astounding 37 points including 14 made field goals.

Next up for the Mariners is a home date with the College of Alameda Cougars.
