College of Marin Men’s Basketball falls late to Solano 68-60

COM Men's basketball has done a tremendous job this season at hanging in games, and staying competitive against superior foes. They did their best on Friday evening in Fairfield, but it was not quite enough as the Falcons felled the Mariners 68-60. Derek Morgan gave it his all as usual it was not enough for Marin.

Marin struggled to produce a consistent offense in the first half, but made up for it with a glut of offensive rebounds. Derek Morgan grabbed 11 on his own and helped Marin stay relevant in the first half.

The Mariners start the second half put them back in contention, but Solano pulled away late to earn the victory. Marin struggled from beyond the arc, and at the line, knocked down just three of ten shots from deep and 9-19 from the charity stripe.

Morgan led the Mariners with 13 points and 18 rebounds, while Eric Mireri contributed 13 points of his own and five rebounds. Joey Potts had a solid game in the middle with eight points, eight rebounds and four blocks on the evening. Kevin Kahriman also did well off the bench with nine points. The Mariners grabbed 19 offensive rebounds but could muster just 60 points on the night.

Marin has a weekend to recuperate before hosting perennial BVC Champions, Yuba College on Wednesday, February 7th.
