Jalen Chandler Named To BVC All-Conference First Team

Sophomore Jalen earned All-Conference accolades at the Bay Valley Conference end of season meeting. The guard/forward for the Men’s Basketball Team led the Mariners in scoring with 17.1 points per game. He played in all 27 of his team’s competitions and scored a season high 25 points on three separate occasions. He was one of 13 named to the BVC All-Conference Team.

Chandler improved by leaps and bounds in his second year in Black and Gold. He shot 50.1% from the floor and 43.2% from three point range in the 2019-2020 season. He scored a career best 25 points on January 8th in the Mariners 81-77 loss to the Los Medanos Mustangs. Jalen did all he could to keep Marin competitive with nine made field goals including five threes in the game. He added four boards, two assists and a block but it was not enough to stave off defeat.

Chandler equaled his 25 point total two weeks later at the College of Alameda. He again scored 25 points including five threes and recorded a career best 19 rebounds in Marin’s 78-71 victory.

The sophomore scored 25 for a third and final time in the season on February 5th against eventual BVC Champions, Yuba College. Chandler posted 25 points and 12 boards but the Mariners narrowly missed out in a 93-91 loss.

Chandler finished off his Mariners’ career in February and posted some impressive career totals including 665 points, 88 made three pointers and 354 rebounds.
