Julian Commits To Sonoma State

Despite sitting out all of last season due to an injury suffered over the COVID pandemic, Julian Bryant found his way back to the basketball court and into a four-year university. As of next year, he will be a member of the Sonoma State Seawolves! Some may wonder how he was able to attain a scholarship despite having not played all of last season. But with Julian, he kept his eyes forward and worked even harder to find a way. Julian mentions "I got connected with Sonoma through a showcase in LA where Coach Rich saw me. From there another assistant came to watch me at another showcase I had in LA. It's funny, Coach Rich was coached by my high school coach, coach Treseler.

Julian thanks his coaches and staff a lot for the player he is today. Julian states "Coach Thom helped me a lot with my confidence, he played me a lot of minutes and allowed me to be myself on the floor. In the weight room he was big on influencing me that strength does matter at this college level and beyond. Coach Russell dealt with the same injury I had so it was very helpful that he was there to help talk to me about it and allow me to understand that I can come back from this injury and be better than I was before, I just need to keep my head up and keep working hard."

Although Julian felt it was not ideal being at a juinor college for 3 years, he is not dissapointed with his time here at Marin. He is grateful that he was able to gain the knoewledge he has and the experience. He believes Marin helped him stay on track with academics in which he posts a 3.64 GPA and also his life skills as a young man and player. At Sonoma State he wishes to further his academics and study Business while being a member of the basketball team. Julian is hopeful that after Sonoma he is able to play professional basketball overseas and use his education for good. We wish him all the luck we can with his career at Sonoma State!
