The College of Marin men’s basketball team fell short, 82-72, to the West Valley College Vikings, who came into the season ranked #3 in the state. Daniel Fagan led the Mariners in scoring with 16 points and Lukas Prongos led the Mariners with 15 rebounds.

The West Valley squad, who came into the game averaging 100 points per game and an average margin of victory of 41 in their first two games, were led by Elijah Mahi who had a season-high 31 points.

College of Marin’s defense effort was stellar and clearly frustrated the visiting Vikings. The Mariners team defense mixed up their looks, and caused several stops and steals in key moments. While the Mariners drew the game even several times, College of Marin was never quite able to take command.  

Next, College of Marin will host Folsom Lake College on Saturday, November 12 at 3pm.
