Men's Soccer Reaches Playoffs in 2014 Season

Head Coach Swap Mushiana enjoyed an excellent first season as Head Men's Soccer Coach at College of Marin. The team took third place in the Bay Valley Conference with a record of 8-4 in conference and a 10-6-4 record overall. The Men's Soccer team qualified for the playoffs and faced West Valley College in the first round where they were defeated 4-0. Despite the loss it was a big step forward for the team who had several outstanding individual performers.

Midfielder Julien Melendez was named Offensive Most Valuable Player of the Bay Valley Conference with a stellar nine goal season despite fighting injuries throughout the season. He notched a pair of assists and two game winners with an outstanding shooting percentage of .563. Julien is currently overseas in Austria pursuing a career in soccer.

Jose Martinez was a goal scoring machine, netting 13 goals and 12 assists in 19 games. He had 39 shots with a shooting percentage of .333 and five game winning goals. Jose was named to the Bay Valley Conference Second Team. He will return next season to College of Marin to continue his playing career.

Will Finnie was named Bay Valley Conference Goalkeeper of the year, allowing just 18 goals in 19 games. He had a record of 10-5-4 with three shutouts and 96 saves. He had a goals against average of just 1.23 goals per game.  As a freshman, Will will return to College of Marin next season to continue his career.
