Missing several key players on Tuesday, the Mariners fought their hardest against the Santa Rosa Junior College Bear Cubs, but could not pullout the road upset. Santa Rosa scored twice in the first ten minutes of competition and rolled to a 4-0 win over Marin. The Bear Cubs peppered the Mariners' goal throughout the game with 21 total shots. Fortunately for the Mariners, the non-conference loss had no bearing on their BVC title chase.

College of Marin was without their top two goal scorers, Peter Carroll and Kristoffer Wangberg and starting defender Brian Diaz.

The Bear Cubs showed the Mariners no mercy as they took it to the heart of Marin's defense in the opening minutes. Alan Soto setup Rigo Barragan 30 seconds into the match for the opening goal. Barragan scored his second of the match in the ninth minute to put Santa Rosa on top 2-0. Alan Soto got into the scoring cavalcade in the 16^th minute off a pass from Alan Sanchez to give the Bear Cubs a three-goal advantage.

Marin's defense settled and they kept the deficit at three goals until halftime. Marin's offense could muster little in the opening stanza as they recorded just two shots.

The second half was drab affair as the Mariners looked to keep possession while Santa Rosa looked to give playing time to the deeper parts of their bench. Alan Soto scored the lone goal of the second half in the 61^st minute, as Rigo Barragan delivered the pass to make the game 4-0.

The Mariners did little by way of offense but Jack F. Thompson did record a shot on goal late in the match.

Bryan Rodriguez made ten saves the Mariners but it would have required a herculean effort to keep Santa Rosa off the board in the match.

The Mariners hope to get healthy prior to their crucial BVC showdown at Merritt College on Friday, October 25^th at 4pm.
