College of Marin Swim & Dive opted to compete at the College of San Mateo Invitational just days before the event. The results showed it was a very good choice. The quartet of Shannon Madsen, Elsa Ledesma, Sasha Urban and Nicholas Cruse combined to grab a podium finish in five of their combined 10 races at the meet.

Madsen fronted the Mariners speed attack on the day. She began with 200 Yard Freestyle where she placed second of 11 competitors with a time of 2:23.18, eight seconds off the leader. Her next race was the 100 Yard Breast where she finished 7^th with a time of 1:21.76. The sophomore's best showing came in the 100 Yard Free where she was second in 1:01.37, under two seconds behind the victor. Madsen combined to score 46 points in her races.

Nicholas Cruse continued his impressive sophomore year with two victories and a second-place finish in the meet. He opened his day with a narrow victory in the 200 Yard Free, taking first place in 1:49.70 just over a second ahead of his nearest pursuer. He dominated in the 500 Yard Free, winning in 4:54.50, 30 seconds faster than second place. Cruse was defeated in the 100 Yard Butterfly, his final race of the day, as he finished in second place with a time of 56.33 seconds. Overall Cruse accumulated 57 points for the Mariners.

Freshman Sasha Urban was excellent as she turned in a pair of second place finishes on the day. She opened with a time of 1:15.16 in the 100 Yard Breast, less than 1.5 second behind the victor. Urban completed the second-place double with a time of 2:42.50 in the 200 Yard Breast, taking a combined 34 points amongst her two finishes.

Elsa Ledesma also had a season best showing at the meet recording a time of 37.79 seconds in the 50 Yard Free. She finished in 10^th place, earning seven points for the Mariners. Ledesma also raced in the 100 Yard Free, and completed with a time of 1:34.73.

Overall the Mariners earned 144 points on the day for an average of 36 points per swimmer and 14.4 points per entry.

College of Marin has a week of training and recovery before they head to the Las Positas Invitational on Friday, March 29^th and Saturday, March 30^th.
