Swim’s Sasha Urban is March Co-Mariner of the Month

College of Marin Swim’s Sasha Urban was named Co-Mariner of the Month for March. The freshman swimmer was Mariners’ strongest female swimmer in three meets. She had six top ten finishes in her eight individual entries.

Urban opened the month at the 16th Mariner Invitational on March 9th. She raced in the 200 Yard Individual Medley where she placed third in 2:33.18. She did even better in the 50-yard Breast, grabbing the victory in a time of 34.90 seconds. Urban had two of the team’s seven top three finishes in their home meet.

The second meet of the month took place at the College of San Mateo and Urban did not disappoint. She recorded a pair of second place finishes beginning with the 100 Yard Breast. She finished in 1:15.16, less than two seconds out of first place. She repeated her effort in the 200 Yard Breast with a time of 2:42.50. The team had five top three finishes, and Urban was responsible for two of them.

Urban’s final meet of the month was the very competitive Hawk Invitational on March 29th and 30th. She had a pair of top ten finishes in Livermore. She took fifth in the 50 Yard Breast with a time of 34.67 seconds before grabbing seventh in the 200 Yard Breast in 2:45.54. Overall it was a very difficult meet, but Urban rose above to excel.

Urban has a great opportunity to succeed at the Bay Valley Conference Championships that begin April 18th. If she competes well, the State Championships could be her in future.
