Amanda Villareal Qualifies for NorCal Trials

Day two of the Big 8 Championships was an eventful one for College of Marin Track & Field as sophomore Amanda Villareal grabbed fifth place in the 400 meter hurdles to qualify for the NorCal Trials.

Villareal set a personal record in the 400 meter hurdles with a time of 1:12.27, an improvement of 0.88 seconds over her previous record. Her time was good enough for fifth place in the 400 meter finals and hit the qualification standards for the NorCal Trials. She also competed in the 100 meter hurdles where she had a time of 16.76 seconds in the finals good for sixth place. She earned a combined seven points for the College of Marin Team from her two top six finishes.

Teammates Mark Wang and Carlos Garcia Jimenez also competed on the second day of the Big 8 Championships. Jimenez posted a time of 4:49:13 in the 1500 meter run while Wang came in at 4:59:40 in the same event.

Nor Cal Trials begin on May 6th, where Villareal will continue her hurdles season.
