Mariners’ Track & Field Shines At College of San Mateo Last Chance Meet

College of Marin Track & Field wrapped up their regular season at the College of San Mateo. Several Mariners set personal records at the Last Chance Meet.

Megan Bartschat made her season debut in the 1500 meter run. The freshman took eighth place with a time of 5:25.47 in a very fast race. She earned three points for the Mariners with her result. She also raced in the 800 meter where she finished eighth yet again to earn four points with a time of 2:41.23. Her showing places her seventh on the Conference Performance list, just off the NorCal Trials qualifying time.

On the men's side, Duncan Gardner continued his excellent debut season with an eighth-place finish in the 1500 meter run. He earned four points for the Mariners with a time of 4:34.71, a personal best.

The Marin throwing squad also had an excellent showing at the meet. Giulio Chiappolini had a personal record of 10.30 meters to finish 10th in the competition. Bryan Medina took 11th with a distance of 9.84 meters. Mariner Iram Hernandez took 12th with 9.29 meters.

In the Discus Throw, Medina led all Mariners with a distance of 31.45 meters and finished eighth overall. Chiappolini was right behind with a distance of 31.32 meters, good for ninth in the competition.

Conference Championships for Track & Field are Friday, April 27th.
